For this Helldivers inspired piece, I designed and built a large-scale cinematic 3D battle scene focused on chaos, survival, and overwhelming odds. The main goal was to create the feeling of a last stand, with multiple Helldivers surrounded by massive alien threats in the middle of a destroyed urban warzone. I handled the full scene design, including the environmental layout, character placement, lighting, composition, atmosphere, and final color grading. The environment was built to feel like a dense, war-torn city space, with damaged structures, debris, broken vehicles, rubble, industrial details, and layered foreground elements helping to create depth and scale. I wanted the viewer to feel surrounded by destruction from every direction, so the scene was composed with threats pushing in from the left, right, and background while the characters hold the center of the image. Lighting was a major part of the piece. I used warm, smoky battlefield lighting mixed with harsh sci-fi highlights, glowing energy effects, muzzle flashes, fire, and atmospheric lens flares to create a dramatic movie-poster look. The large alien machine in the background was designed as a major focal point, with its bright central glow helping pull the viewer’s eye through the composition while adding a sense of danger and scale. I also focused heavily on atmosphere and post-processing, using smoke, dust, sparks, bloom, color grading, and layered contrast to unify the image. The final grade was designed to balance the orange, war-torn environment with cooler blue sci-fi energy effects, giving the piece both intensity and visual clarity. Overall, this artwork was created to feel like a fully cinematic promotional key art piece, combining character action, environmental storytelling, large-scale creature design, and dramatic lighting into one cohesive 3D scene.
